Recently I ran across a quote from Cy Twombly that speaks to that period of incubation, "When I work, I work very fast, but preparing to work can take any length of time."Jeanette Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01565429918737694979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5120593322934217357.post-68049834073673766592010-08-23T14:59:09.264-07:002010-08-23T14:59:09.264-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Jennifer Scantlebury Vienneauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02172657760079159817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5120593322934217357.post-35092162496889209792010-08-10T18:09:38.009-07:002010-08-10T18:09:38.009-07:00Thank you for this wonderful blog. The topic meshes perfectly with Making Room for Making Art by Sally Warner, which I just finished reading, and The Woman's Book of Creativity by C. Diane Ealy, which I am in the midst of devouring. It turned out that they didn't always say what I wanted to hear and I learned that I didn't need their approval--quite a development! When I feel unsure about a piece now, I restrict whom I ask. There are some whose opinion I respect and who respect me. The decisions need to be mine, it's my work. Not always easy or simple, but I'm learning and owning my work. Thank you for the nudges to insight.Jackiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04730298448632087144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5120593322934217357.post-65502774523632664932010-08-10T07:54:34.959-07:002010-08-10T07:54:34.959-07:00when people ask me "what are you working on?&...when people ask me "what are you working on?" I tell them I don't talk about works in progress. I'm an author and some people feel they have a right to a "public" person. I am not public. I am very private and my work is done in solitude. As for my household, my husband knows my dirty look.jmmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11659927578575956817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5120593322934217357.post-64981568225334602682010-08-09T19:50:27.493-07:002010-08-09T19:50:27.493-07:00i like the buddhist advice... creating is a spirit...i like the buddhist advice... creating is a spiritual practice, for me at least. thank you for another excellent post.nandashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12679913146205462190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5120593322934217357.post-81488396848990581632010-08-08T20:57:52.865-07:002010-08-08T20:57:52.865-07:00Excellent post!Excellent post!PaMdorahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14673157255405327125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5120593322934217357.post-35613037429937186842010-08-07T22:49:20.880-07:002010-08-07T22:49:20.880-07:00What you've said is so important.
